Fatal wreck in Dallam County

DALHART, TX (KFDA) -

Two people are killed and five injured after a wreck in Dallam county.

The Department of Public Safety says a Chevy Impala traveling southwest on US 54 crossed over into the other lane before colliding with a tractor trailer.

The driver of the car, 18 year old Victor Maldonado, and passenger, 23 year old David Roman, both from Illinois, were killed.

Three other men in the car were transported to Northwest Texas Hospital with minor injuries.

The driver and passenger in the tractor trailer were sent to Coon Memorial Hospital in Dalhart but were later released.

DPS says everyone was wearing their seatbelt at the time of the crash.
