Paying it forward, one cup at a time

Posted: Updated:

Some customers at Starbucks in Amarillo received an extra taste of holiday cheer Christmas morning, when a complete stranger decided to pay it forward.

Workers say it started with just $23.

When Mark Austa realized his beverage had been paid for, he decided to keep the trend going.

"I went through and did it for the guy at the drive through. It just seemed like the right thing to do," Austa said.

It was the simple action of giving back that created a domino effect at Starbucks, bringing joy to people who stopped by, something customers say is a great way to spread joy.

"I think it's an excellent idea, and a good idea to do everyday, not just today," Derrell Deloach said.

Although the person who started it all remains a mystery, he or she was able to put smiles on people's faces, one cup at a time.
