Amarillo, TX - An Amarillo man has been indicted for murder after police say he stabbed his own father to death.

Shawn Hooten faces an enhanced murder charge in Randall County for the death of Perry Hooten at the Granite apartments at 34th street in Amarillo.

On August 19th, Amarillo police officers responded to those apartments near 34th and Western, where they found 61-year old Perry Hooten with stab wounds.

He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Shawn Hooten remained at large for two days, leading to an ongoing manhunt at several locations around the city.

He eventually turned himself in by approaching officers in the 6100 block of south Bell street.

Those officers had been taking a report from a person in an unrelated incident, when they noticed Hooten walking toward them.

He was booked in to the Randall County Jail on a $250,000 bond, where he remains in custody.
