UPDATE: One person dead and 10 people injured in Hutchinson County wreck

Amarillo, TX - An area resident is dead and 10 people are injured after a major wreck in Hutchinson County Wednesday night involving multiple vehicles.

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers say at around 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, on Highway 136 between Borger and Fritch, two vehicles collided when one was turning off the highway onto a private road.

While cars approaching the wreck began to stop in the roadway, three more vehicles crashed while trying to avoid the previous wreck.

Troopers say 11 people were taken to area hospitals, with injuries varying from life-threatening to minor. One person passed away at the hospital.
