Amarillo, TX - Travelers between Amarillo and Dumas could soon see some driving time delays.
Beginning Tuesday, southbound traffic on US 287 will be diverted around the bridge that crosses over the Canadian River.
Drivers will be routed over the northbound bridge, which will be down to one lane in both directions while crews work to rebuild the crossing on the other side of the median.
The southbound bridge, which Texas Department of Transportation officials say has reached its life span and is showing signs of deterioration, is set to be demolished later this month.
TxDOT says the new bridge is expected to be completed and open by this time next year.
