Amarillo fallen veterans honored by 'Wreaths Across America'

Amarillo, TX - Across America, people stopped Saturday morning to honor veterans who have passed away.

Members of the Amarillo community joined in on the local Wreaths Across America event, placing wreaths on the graves of veterans buried at Llano Cemetery.

There was also a ceremony in the Field of Honor at Llano East, complete with the Color Guard, VFW Post 1475 Honor Guard and the Amarillo Civil Air Patrol Tiger Shark Squadron participating.

"It's a ceremony that we honor all the veteran's and we try and lay wreaths as many as we have and I believe we had 382 here today," said Fred Rangel, President of the Texas Panhandle War Memorial.
"But it's a national recognition for all of our veteran's."

At the same time Saturday morning, wreaths were laid at some 900 locations of veteran's graves across America.
