Weekend shooting sends one man to hospital, suspect behind bars

Amarillo, TX - A shooting this weekend sends one area resident to the hospital and another behind bars.

Amarillo police responded around 3am Sunday morning to reports of a shooting in the 3600 block of Lipscomb. When police arrived they found 35 year old Aaron Miller with a gunshot wound to the upper chest.

Police tell us he was in an altercation with another man in front of his home. Police later located and arrested the suspect, 30 year old Robert Bennett in the 5600 block of Southwest 41st.

He was booked into Randall County jail on charges of assault with a deadly weapon.

Miller was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

They say the victim was at the Sanborn park around 2:30 a.m. when he was approached by the suspects. Officials say the victim was stabbed twice in the abdomen and was transported to the hospital.
