Pampa, TX - A school in Haiti will soon be receiving many necessities thanks to one church in Pampa.
Briarwood Church is gathering up desks, books and even a bus to send to a school in Haiti as an extention of the mission trips they have taken there.
Shipping basic supplies to Haiti or even traveling there to volunteer is much different than trying to ship a school bus, but that is exactly what one member and his church are trying to do.
"Josh Salazar got this idea to donate this bus, one of the partners we have in Haiti runs a school called Love and Hope Community School in...Haiti and they needed some desks, buses, things like that," said Matt Green Associate Pastor at Briarwood Church.
Along with the bus many other items such as desks and books have been donated.
"When Open Range bought the old junior high and they had a sale selling everything and they had a bunch of desks leftover, we asked them if they would be interested in donating the desks and they said yes, so they donated desks and books to us. Then we were trying to figure out a way to get the desks and the books and everything down there and we found this bus was for sale and the people donated the bus to us and so now we're going to put all the desks and the books and everything inside of the bus and get the bus to Florida where from there it's going to get shipped to Haiti," said Josh Salazar who is a church member at Briarwood Church.
They still need help getting this bus and all the other donations to Florida which will cost about $4,000, and once it is in Florida it will cost about $5,000 to ship it to Haiti.
"We just fell in love with the people and we just want to continue helping them down there," said Salazar.
If you would like to make a monetary donation to help Briarwood Church ship everything to Haiti.
