OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A winter storm packing freezing rain and sleet has moved into central Oklahoma.
The mess is causing traffic crashes and has prompted state offices and dozens of area schools to close early or cancel Friday's prep football playoff games.
The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory that will continue through 6 a.m. Saturday. It warns of areas of sleet and light freezing rain, primarily across northern and western Oklahoma
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported numerous accidents on interstates across Oklahoma City as the storm moved through.
Trooper Betsy Randolph says roads are slick and hazardous across all of western Oklahoma, including the Panhandle, while bridges and elevated roadways in the Oklahoma City-metro area could be dangerous.
Several state offices closed early, including the Oklahoma Senate.
