Amarillo, TX - The murder conviction of a Bushland man has been upheld.

The Seventh Court of Appeals in Amarillo affirmed the conviction of Paul David Gillette, who was sentenced to 45 years in prison in August of last year for the 2010 death of his wife.

The appeal had claimed the evidence did not sufficiently support a murder conviction, and instead pointed to the lesser charges of manslaughter or criminally negligent homicide.

The court rejected those claims, meaning the murder conviction and sentence will stand.
