Herbal supplements controversy

Posted: Updated:

Amarillo, TX - If you have herbal supplements in your medicine cabinet, they may be missing the main ingredient.

Researchers conducted DNA tests on 44 bottles of herbal supplements sold by 12 companies and found around a third contained no trace at all of the herb they claimed to contain.

Instead, the supplements were made of powdered weeds or rice and soybean.

The FDA regulates supplements to make sure they don't contain poison or harmful ingredients ...  rather than the amount or quality of the herb in the supplement.
