Amarillo, TX - As the oldest and largest cemetery in the Texas Panhandle, Llano Cemetery in Amarillo makes for a unique choice to "Tour by Twilight".
For several hours Saturday, the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum offered trolley tours of the grounds and walking tours of the mausoleum and administration buildings on Llano Cemetery.
It's the eighth year for the museum to offer these tours, something they say is a different way to enjoy this cultural and architectural sight in Amarillo.
"This is a way to have a presence in Amarillo and outside of the museum," said Elaina Cunningham, education manager for the PPHM. "So if you can't make it down, we can come and talk about the history of this area and the cemetery. It's important to tell the story of the people buried here in this cemetery they included community leaders, philanthropist, the pioneers of Amarillo."
