Multiple car accident injures 7 children, one adult

Eight people were sent to the hospital Friday night, seven of them children, following an accident in south Amarillo.

It happened about 8:30 Friday night at South Coulter and Hollywood Road. Police said a Dodge pickup carrying three people was headed east on Hollywood when a Ford Expedition carrying nine people going west made an unprotected left turn onto Coulter Street.

The pickup crashed into the Expedition, causing that vehicle to spin and strike an Explorer waiting on a red light at the intersection.

Seven kids and one adult were hurt during the accident, but police said all of their injuries appeared to have been non-life threatening.

The crash remains under investigation.
