Highway 287 reopened after chemical spill

Texas - A major Texas highway has now reopened after being closed due to a chemical spill for over 24 hours.

The Hall County sheriff's office has advised us that Highway 287 is now functional and open to through traffic.

Texas DPS officials have been working the area since late Sunday night. When a semi-truck hauling hazardous chemicals overturned between Childress and Memphis spilling more than 1500 gallons of material into the median.

DPS troopers and officials from Hall County had to direct all traffic in the area far away from the scene, as well as evacuate residents.
