Thousands head to Center City Block Party

Thousands of people head to Center City's annual Block Party in downtown Amarillo.

A new 34 foot neon Amarillo National Bank sign will be lit for the first time near 6th and Polk streets.

24 live bands have been playing through out the night and are entertaining the thousands of people who are downtown between 7th and 4th Ave.

"This fills so much of our mission, one of our missions at center city is to get people downtown, because every time they come downtown, they see something new or different. And we are so thrilled to throw the biggest party of the summer, and have people come downtown and enjoy downtown," Center City Amarillo Executive Director Beth Duke.

This year the block party was moved four blocks north of its usual location sparking concern among the owners of business on Polk street who say they are loosing revenue as result.
