Man arrested in connection with August 5 shooting death

Posted: Updated:

Amarillo, TX - An arrest has been made in an August 5th fatal shooting in Amarillo.

Jarrod Heath Jones was arrested earlier this week on warrants of felon in possession of a firearm and tampering with evidence.

Police say these warrants were issued as a result of Jones' involvement in the case where Mathew Guzman was shot and killed.

Police were dispatched to the 800 block of Virginia Street last week on a shooting. There they found Guzman with a gunshot wound to his upper body. He later died at an Amarillo hospital.
