Buffalo Battle Mud Run draws in the crowds

Area service members of the U.S. Army and Marines, as well as triathlon fanatics helped serve as leaders in the Amarillo and Canyon area Sunday, all to benefit a leadership group.

Sunday, some 200 people got down and dirty in this year's Buffalo Battle Mud Run out at River Breaks Ranch. The run raises money for leadership Amarillo and Canyon a group looking to strengthen our community through leadership development. During the 5K obstacle course, runners had to crawl through mud pits, scale walls and even push cars.

"Well one of the things we try to do with our mud obstacle events is use the topography of the land instead of building a lot of additional ones," explained Marti Greer, Event Director for the Buffalo Battle. "We make them climb mountain sides, make them slide into mud pits that are on the hill."
