Abortion bill misses deadline

Texas - The Texas Legislature's special session ended in chaos early Wednesday morning.

Republicans were unable to pass the bill before the midnight deadline.

There were 400 protestors chanting and shouting during the proceedings.

Texas State Senator Wendy Davis tried to block the abortion bill by attempting a 13-hour filibuster Tuesday.

She fell short three hours early when the chairman ruled she had gone off topic.

Midnight came and went but there was confusion over the outcome.

At around 3am Wednesday, Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst declared the bill dead.

Governor Rick Perry, who supports the bill, may ask for another session.
