High winds cause area power outages

Amarillo, TX - Update: Xcel reports they have restored power to all but 82 customers this afternoon. Crews are still working to restore power.

Many in Amarillo remain without power today because of last night's high winds.

Xcel Energy says 22 transmission structures were damaged by the wind in the Hollywood area between Arnot and Helium by the winds.

Thursday night around 11pm as many as 6,900 were without power. The Xcel crews worked throughout the night on the power lines and poles taken out by the winds.

    The Texas A&M Forest Service said 60,000 acres have burned in the Rankin Ranch Road Fire, a large blaze burning near Miami in Roberts County.
