Wildfires continue to blaze in New Mexico

Posted: Updated:

New Mexico - Hundreds of firefighters continue battling two wildfires in Northern New Mexico on Tuesday.

Increased winds and a drop in humidity levels are making it difficult to contain the blazes.

The Thompson Ridge fire, now has the potential to spread to Native American archaeological sites.

The sites include six volcanic mounds located in the Valles Caldera National Preserve.

And another fire, north of Pecos, New Mexico, has scorched about 8,000 acres and has forced the evacuation of about 100 summer homes.

That fire, known as the Tres Lagunas Fire, is 5% contained.
