OSSBA Helps with Tornado Relief Efforts

Posted: Updated:

OKLAHOMA CITY Okla_ The Oklahoma State School Boards Association (OSSBA) is humbled by the generosity of people from across Oklahoma and the country.

After the recent tornadoes that devastated central Oklahoma, the OSSBA established a Tornado Relief Fund through the OSSBA Foundation for affected schools as well as hosting as a drop off location for donations, focusing on school supplies.

In-kind donations have been received from the Nebraska School Boards Association, Woodward Public Schools, Choteau-Maize Public Schools, Duncan radio station 105.3 Kiss FM and many other individuals with more on the way from outside the state. We are working with Feed the Children to distribute all of these donations to impacted families and schools.

In addition, the OSSBA Tornado Relief Fund has collected over $12,000 with a commitment for another $21,000 the largest contribution coming from Wells Fargo.  All proceeds will be distributed to the schools affected by the recent tornadoes.

The OSSBA is still taking donations of school supplies, which can be dropped off at 2801 North Lincoln Boulevard, Oklahoma City 73105. Also monetary donations for the OSSBA Tornado Relief Fund can be sent to the same address or donated online at http://www.ossba.org/ossba-tornado-relief-fund.

The OSSBA works to promote quality education for the children of Oklahoma through training and information services to school board members. The Association is a leader among leaders in Oklahoma education and a visible presence in the local school districts and throughout the state.
