Pampa Habitat for Humanity needs help

Posted: Updated:

Pampa, Texas - A program that helps struggling families has been struggling itself since it got its start.

The Pampa/Gray County Habitat for Humanity has been around for six years. But, workers just recently finished their first home for a family in need.

Board members say they've faced many challenges along their way that kept them from lending a helping hand. The biggest one was finding enough volunteers for the program.

Board member, Paul Nachtigall says there have been many scheduling conflicts with churches helping out, and also just finding enough qualified people to help.

"That's the way it's been since it's inception. You know we've had men and women come on, then have to go off because of time constraints, and I understand all that. But, there are people out there that have the time, and have the capabilities, that have that knowledge that's needed," Nachtigall says.

They were finally able to begin work on their first home a year and a half ago, but still need more volunteers for future projects.

You can reach the Pampa/Gray County Habitat for Humanity for more information on volunteering or applying for a home at (806) 665-0349 or visit http://pampahabitat.org/
