High-speed chase ends after officer fire shot in suspect's tire

A high speed chase Saturday morning near Dumas finally comes to an end after a police officer fires his gun into the tire of the fleeing vehicle.

According to officials with the Texas Department of Public Safety, 20-year-old Ron Dale Turner was pulled over shortly before eleven Saturday morning for not wearing his seatbelt. After making contact with an officer, Turner took off headed south on 287 toward Dumas topping out at speeds over 100 miles per hour. Turner then crossed the median and was heading north into oncoming traffic.  That's when one officer fired his weapon into the right front tire of Turner's vehicle, slowing him down before he finally stopped just before entering Dumas.

The suspect got out of the car and fled on foot, but after a short chase officers were able to catch and arrest him. Turner has been booked into the Moore County Jail.
