PSPCISD Bond passes by one vote

The 30,000,000 dollar Plemons-Stinnett-Phillips School District bond was passed this weekend by a single vote.

Nearly 1,800 people in that are registered to vote but Bill Wiggins, the superintendent, tells us just over 300 residents cast a ballot.

"We put a proposition for the community, the community voted on it. It passed by one measure so therefore we will proceed," he told us.

The majority of the money will be used to relocate the softball and baseball fields along with building a new multi-sport complex. Other money will be put towards updating the auditorium at the elementary and high school campus.

Wiggins says the construction will be beneficial for the community. "The kids will have a great venue to participate in," he said.

On average, he told us, residents will see their taxes go up about 22 cents. Construction is expected to be done by 2015.
