Murder trial of accused child killer postponed

The murder trial of the man accused of shooting and killing a ten-year-old Clovis boy more than 7 years ago has been postponed.

The trial for Noe Torres was originally scheduled for May 20, but has been continued for a later day, possibly in late summer.

According to the Clovis News Journal, a judge granted that continuance after a request from Torres' defense attorney, Jesse Cosby. Cosby stated he had another, conflicting murder trial scheduled the same week as Torres.

District attorney Matt Chandler argued against postponing the trial because he says Torres trial for a 2005 killing should take precedence over Cosby's other client who's accused of a 2011 murder.

The later trial date has not been set for Torres just yet, however, he remains in a state prison at Chandler's request.
