New study: parents should suck child's pacifier

Posted: Updated:

If your child's pacifier falls on the floor, a new study shows not cleaning it off may have some benefits. This controversial study comes from Sweden.

Researches say if a parent quickly sucks on the pacifier before putting it back in the child's mouth, over time, the child will develop a stronger immune system and a lower risk for allergy related conditions like eczema and asthma.

This is the first study of it's kind and doctors admit more research needs to be done. The Pediatricians we spoke with today say washing the pacifier after it falls on the ground is a safe alternative for the time being.
