Amarillo, TX - An Amarillo man is arrested for attacking a police officer.
Before 3:00 Thursday afternoon, police say they received reports of a suspicious man at the park next to Gene Howe Elementary in the 5100 block of Pico Boulevard.
When he arrived, the officer says the suspect, later identified as Benito Sanchez, locked himself in the park bathroom before eventually coming out and punching the officer in the face.
After a short foot chase, Sanchez was arrested in front of the elementary school.
He was booked into the Randall County Jail on charges of assault on a public servant and evading arrest.
