"Don't Mess with Texas" campaign is getting a makeover

There's a new push aimed at keeping Texas litter-free while saving taxpayer dollars at the same time.

TxDOT is kicking off their annual "Don't Mess with Texas" campaign, but this year it's getting a makeover.

The campaign has been re-tooled to appeal to the state's worst offenders who are primarily young adults between 16 and 34 years old.

In the coming months, hundreds of trash barrels will appear at safety rest areas, popular tourist attractions, sports venues and other high traffic locations.
