Benefits For NM Volunteers

Santa Fe, NM - Volunteer firefighters in New Mexico will soon be receiving more benefits.

Governor Martinez has signed into law a bill that will boost retirement benefits to 250-dollars a month.

That's for those at least 55 years old who have served at least 25 years.

And those of retirement age who have served at least 10 years will see a 125-dollar a month increase.

There are more than 5-thousand active volunteer firefighters across the state.
