Benefits For NM Volunteers

 

Santa Fe, NM - Volunteer firefighters in New Mexico will soon be receiving more benefits.

Governor Martinez has signed into law a bill that will boost retirement benefits to 250-dollars a month.

That's for those at least 55 years old who have served at least 25 years.

And those of retirement age who have served at least 10 years will see a 125-dollar a month increase.

There are more than 5-thousand active volunteer firefighters across the state.

    The City of Amarillo is proposing new franchise fees to its solid waste program that they anticipate will improve the quality of city services that Amarillo citizens use on a daily basis.
