One person dies in wreck involving a cow on the road

Amarillo, TX - An early morning wreck on US 287 east of Childress leaves one person dead.

Just after midnight, Department of Public Safety troopers say a car was traveling on the highway, when it collided with a cow in the road.

A passenger from that vehicle was standing in the shoulder when a second vehicle is said to have hit the same cow.

They then reportedly lost control of their vehicle and struck the passenger on the shoulder.

21 year-old Sarah Hopkins was taken to the Quanah hospital after the crash, where she was pronounced dead.
