Teen driver license restrictions

Amarillo, Texas - There are restrictions in place for teenage drivers in Texas. Teen drivers may not have more than one passenger under the age of 21, who is not a family member, in the vehicle while they are driving.

Also driving between the hours of midnight and 5am are restricted. There rules do not apply if the driver is accompanied by a license operator age 21 or older in the front seat.

Those restrictions are however only for the first year after obtaining a license, while under the age of 18. In 2009 state officials increased the restriction time from 6 months to one year.
