Police search for armed robbery suspect

Amarillo police are looking for the suspect who beat a man in the head and face several times while trying to rob him at gunpoint.

Just before eleven o'clock Saturday morning, officers were dispatched to Aaron's Rent-to-Own on Amarillo Boulevard East on an armed robbery. According to police, the manager of the store was walking to his car when a black male suspect approached him with a large handgun with an 8 inch barrel and demanded the money inside the bank deposit bag the manager was carrying.  The victim fought back and they began to struggle which is when the suspect struck him in the head and face. The victim was able to get free and throw the bag bad inside the front door of the business.

That's when the suspect fled west and then north toward the Lakeview Apartments. Officials say he may have left the area in a vehicle described as a white older model Oldsmobile 88 or 89 with three other people inside.

No arrests have been made at this time so if you have any information on this suspect you're asked to call Amarillo Police or Crime Stoppers at 374-4400.
