Police arrest United Supermarket robbery suspect

Amarillo, TX - An arrest has been made in a Thursday morning United Supermarket robbery.

Thursday morning around 10:30, police were sent to the United Supermarket at 5601 Amarillo Blvd. West on a robbery call.

The suspect came in the store and picked up some items and did not pay. He left and a store employee followed the subject out to the parking lot and confronted the suspect.

The suspect pulled out a pistol and pointed it at the employee. He then got into red Dodge Stratus and left the parking lot.

Several minutes later officers saw a red Dodge Stratus in a parking lot near Amarillo Blvd. West and North Hughes. Officers talked to the occupant of the vehicle who directed them to a nearby motel.

Police went to the Deluxe Inn at 620 Amarillo Blvd. West where they located the suspect. He was arrested and identified as the robber.

He is identified as 41 year old Patrick Eugene Coleman. Coleman was booked into the Potter County Correction Center on a charge of Aggravated Robbery. The weapon turned out to be a BB/pellet type pistol.
