After pleading guilty to deadly conduct, an area man is sentenced to eight years in prison.

23 year old Shemorgan Benard was sentenced on December 10, 2012 in connection with the shooting death of Noland Hill Junior, according to the Potter County District Attorney's Office.

He was originally arrested for murder for the incident that happened in June of 2011, but was indicted for aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury.

Police say Benard and Hill had been arguing shortly before the shooting took place.
