CARLSBAD, N.M. (AP) - Police in Carlsbad say they have found the body of a missing 88-year-old man buried in pieces in a backyard.
The Carlsbad Current-Argus reports police used a cadaver dog to find the body of Thomas Allumbaugh on Sunday.
Police say the elderly man had been reported missing on Friday by his grandson, Shane Allumbaugh.
After receiving a tip, the newspaper says police searched the property for two days, eventually using a dog to locate pieces of the body, buried separately in the yard on North Canal Street. Police say family members helped identify the victim.
The newspaper says no arrests have been made, but police have identified several people of interest.
