Law enforcement has been guarding the fatality site since about four Tuesday afternoon when the crash occurred.

The Childress County sheriff tells us per federal regulations, they are preserving the scene until investigators are finished.

He says this fatality is a first for him, and he expects the community feels the same way he does.

Sheriff Mike Pigg says, "I've been in law enforcement for 31 years, and this is the first aircraft crash I've dealt with personally. I haven't really had a chance to get into the community and feel their pulse about the fatality, but I'm sure, just like everybody else, their hearts go out to the families."
