Cyber Monday is expected to break records

Cyber Monday is underway and sales are expected to top $1.5 billion, up from last year's $1.25 billion, according to ComScore.

Experts say to be prepared because Cyber Monday can get competitive.

If you're thinking of shopping online today, you're urged to make a list, set up online accounts quickly and use web sites such as Google Product to compare prices.

Google Product will show if there is a better price for the product somewhere else.

Another thing to keep in mind is shipping options.

Some retailers will offer free in-store pickup or will ship for free to a local store.

It's recommended you make sure you're not overspending to save on that nominal charge.

It's also worth checking to see if there's a better deal in stores since retailers often make a discount exclusive to one platform.

The National Retail Federation says Cyber Monday shows a huge evolution in the way customers shop, being brought on mobile devices and new technology.
