Woman Recalls Fatal Train Accident

MIDLAND - It's hard to even imagine the horror of seeing such a horrendous crash unfold before your eyes.

Sadly, one woman saw the tragic turn of events unfold before her eyes, mere feet away from her.

It had been an emotional 24 hours for Pam Shoemaker and her husband. Her husband is a veteran. She was with him on the first float, feet away from the doomed one.

Shoemaker told NewsWest 9 that she and her husband saw the accident as it happened. She says this is something she will never forget.

"We all heard the train coming," Shoemaker said.

Shoemaker says something like this has reminded her how precious life it.

"The reality of it has just set in. One moment sooner, it would've been us. One later, and they would've made it," she sobbed.

She also explained that while she knows the recovery won't happen anytime soon, she knows God has a purpose for her life.

    Amarillo Police are looking for three suspects who are accused of stabbing a man early Sunday morning. They say the victim was at the Sanborn park around 2:30 a.m. when he was approached by the suspects. Officials say the victim was stabbed twice in the abdomen and was transported to the hospital.
