Texas - As cheating on state exams continues to rise in Texas, more is in the works to prevent it from happening.
The Texas Education Agency is preparing to ask the legislature for one million dollars to help.
A request has already been sent to lawmakers saying funding is needed to "create a special investigations unit that would be in charge of reviewing reports that suggest serious testing irregularities" or other security violations involving the new STAAR test.
The TEA would says funding would also be used to resume audits of randomly selected schools, this is a practice that was discontinued because of funding cuts imposed on the agency.
Over the past five years there have been more than 40 teachers and administrators across the state who were sanctioned for violations.
