Many in Amarillo didn't have to wait until Thanksgiving to have a delicious turkey dinner. Saint Mary's Cathedral Council of Catholic Women served their Annual Turkey Dinner Sunday afternoon.
Organizers estimated more than one thousand people turned out for the dinner helping the council with their biggest fundraiser of the year. The money raised from the event will go toward helping support the councils many ministries as well as support families during the loss of a loved one.
"We help buy candles, alter decorations, with the funeral costs," said Sharon Pezzarossi, a chairperson for the turkey dinner. "It's a way to bring community to the church and people around the church."
Saint Mary's Cathedral Council of Catholic Women has been hosting this Annual Turkey Dinner for fifty plus years.
