Annual fire truck pull draws in donations for Special Olympics

Posted: Updated:

It was all about showing your strength to support a good cause on Saturday in Amarillo. People came out for the annual Fire Truck Pull hosted by the Law Enforcement Torch Run.

Proceeds from Saturday's event go toward benefiting the Special Olympics. Seven teams of eight came out to show their support and each paid $100 to have a chance to show their strength by pulling a fire truck.

"We had some real good competitors come out this year," said TDCJ Cpt.. of Corrections Officers Benny Bundy. "Amarillo Fire Department won last year, they were the returning champs, they came back and had their work cut out for them but again they came back and were the returning champs."

All of the money raised from Saturday's truck pull will stay in the Amarillo area to support the some 500 local kids involved in Special Olympics. If you're interested in helping out give their main office a call at 374-7171.
