Canadian ISD requests $14 million bond

Canadian, Texas - An area school district says they are bursting at the seams, and requests a $14 million dollar bond.

Since 2005 Canadian Independent School District has experienced a 28% growth in students, and they still have the same facilities as they did nearly 300 students ago.

He also says the significant enrollment growth in the area is a result of the continued increase in oil and gas activity in the area, and he only sees more growth in the future.

Kyle Lynch says, "the biggest one we're looking at right now is classroom expansion that serves both our middle school and high school. Certainly we're seeing the numbers of our growth are in elementary schools, so we're just trying to plan for the future."

He tells us the money will also be used for equipment, school buses, school sites for the district, and levying the tax in payment of such bonds.

Canadian ISD has passed numerous bonds in the past and he says the community has always supported them, and he expects the same support for this one.
