Local business closes door leaving customers out of luck

Posted: Updated:

Here today gone the next. That's the case with one local business, and it's left many of their customers unhappy.

We're told Tropical Tans was one of the oldest shops here in the Best Plaza on Western. But today their doors are no longer open, a surprise to many of their customers.

We were contacted by one client who told us they were just inside this tanning salon on Saturday, when they returned on Sunday, everything had been packed up and cleared out.

When we talked to the property owner Wednesday afternoon, she said she also has no idea what has happened to this business.

Many of their customers are concerned because they have already paid for year long tanning packages which can cost around $100.

The BBB says there are things you could do when a business closes.

"If a company is part of a chain, they can contact the headquarters to see if the company moved, is going to a different location, or if there is some other way a customer can get reimbursed if they've spent money with that company up front," Janna Kiehl with the Better Business Bureau says.

But, we're told Tropical Tans is not a chain, and there is nothing posted on their door saying they've moved locations. All that is listed is their winter hours.

We also took a look at a copy of Tropical Tan's Better Business Bureau report to see if the company has received any complaints prior to this. The BBB gave them an "F" rating.
