CLOVIS, N.M.- Curry County Jail Administrator Gerry Billy is scheduled to be in court Friday morning to respond to a contempt of court charge.

9th Judicial District Chief Judge Ted Hartley says Billy did not follow proper procedures when handling inmates housed outside the county.

Hartley requested all inmates housed in other counties be returned to the detention center at least 24 hours prior to their scheduled court hearing so they could have time to meet with their attorney.

Billy told the Clovis News Journal "there may have been some recent isolated issues in returning prisoners to Clovis."

Our repeated calls to Billy for comment were not returned.
