Blanket donations for women and children

Posted: Updated:

Amarillo, Texas - With an easy donation, you can help more than one hundred people in Amarillo stay warm this winter.

Martha's Home is a local organization for women and children who need a safe place to stay.

They have 37 beds and are accepting blanket donations Wednesday evening at Joe Daddy's restaurant on Paramount in Amarillo.

With winter just around the corner, Martha's Home is asking for donations of new or gently used blankets.

This is just a temporary home for women and children, so when people leave, they take the bedding and blankets with them.

Those involved say this simple donation can really bring those in need of a helping hand, a little closer to a better life.

Development Director Mary Kay Kuhrts says, "they don't come here just to get a hand out. We give them a hand up to get on their feet and beat life's obstacles from being homeless, to getting self sufficient and being a productive member in our community."

Martha's Home serves over 150 clients per year and are always in need of blankets.

If you bring one to Joe Daddy's by 7:00 Wednesday evening, you will not only be helping out Martha's Home, but you'll also receive a discount on your meal.
