Wounded war vet gives back

Amarillo, Texas - A young disabled war veteran in Amarillo competes in a triathlon and has an important message.

Joe Chris Rodriguez is paraplegic, but competes in athletic events and speaks to kids all over Texas.

He is a young man who wants to relay the message to everyone he sees, the sky is the limit.

He completed the entire triathlon on his own and says the 3 miles on the road with the hills was the toughest.

The young war vet seemed to leave an impression on everyone he is around.

When I asked other racers about him being involved they told me it was great for him to show what the human spirit can accomplish when you've got the will.

Rodriguez says,"when you have an accident or a disability and someone tells you that you can do something, you kind of think to yourself, no I can't, but when you see somebody that comes and says this is what In do and you can do it. It gives you a whole different outlook on everything and in life."

He says you see people and you know what they're going through, and all you want is to motivate them.

He will be competing in the Tough Mudder competition in Austin on October 6 and 7th.

All of his proceeds and donations will benefit the wounded warrior project.

How about we give more specific responsibilities to the LG's office so we don't wonder what the position is expected to do?

As more and more people are seemingly jumping into the local 2018 lieutenant governor's race, two questions come to mind: how about we give more specific responsibilities to the LG's office so we don't wonder what the position is expected to do?
