Amarillo, TX - A grass fire that started this afternoon at Lake Meredith National Recreational Area is now under control.
The Potter County Fire Department and the Park Service Engine responded to a blaze in the Rosita Flats area.
We're told the fire is possibly ATV related.
Approximately one acre was burned but the national park ranger says it could have been a lot worse.
"The wind was really in our favor. We had light winds out of the west that shifted to the northwest. The Potter County Fire Department was first on scene, they were here within approximately 20 minutes. The Park Service Engine is also here on scene with us. We were really fortunate today," says Peter Zahrt, National Park Ranger.
The investigation into what caused the fire is ongoing.
