Amarillo, Texas - With two weeks before he is scheduled to die, Amarillo's John Balentine files for a stay of execution.

Balentine was convicted and sentenced to death for the murder of three Amarillo teenagers in 1998.

Balentine has applied for a stay of execution twice before, one in 2009 and the other last year.

Both reprieves came just hours before he was scheduled to be executed.

If this stay is not granted, he will die by lethal injection on Wednesday, August 22nd.
