Power has been restored to thousands of Amarillo residents

Amarillo, TX - Power has been restored to thousands of Amarillo residents.

Xcel spokesman Wes Reeves says an equipment failure in the 34th street substation caused the outage just before 5:00 for about 6900 customers.

Among those affected were those living between I-40 and 45th and Western and Coulter.

Reeves says crews were able to restore the power around 6:00 Monday night.
